Course Overview
This course has been designed to allow users to become familiar with many of the tools and processes involved in setting up and running a project using MS Project to track events and costs within the project itself.
Course prerequisites
A working knowledge of Windows
By the end of this course you will be able to:
· Understand the processes involved in setting up a project and learn more about the jargon and terminology involved in both “Real World” projects as well as project management software
· Navigate through the various screens and views within MS Project before attempting to create your own project
· Develop a project by creating and linking the main elements of Calendars, Resources, Events and the associated costs
· Link elements of your project to map Resources attached to Events and then the details of when the event is due to take place
· Create and work within a structure that will easily allow you and your colleagues to track events within your project and compare this to your estimates for the project
· Update elements of your project plan once the project has started. Update Resources and Events and observe the effects that this will have on your project and how this will alter projected costs
· Work effectively with views of data within your project and produce reports based on the progress of your project
· Use Macros to automate tasks while using Microsoft Project
