Course Content

BIM for Operations will give you a sound understanding of the information management processes required in the operational phase of the asset lifecycle according to ISO 19650 Part 3: Operational Phase of the Assets.

During this course we will look at a range of BIM approaches and applications for construction including construction schedules and logistics, buildability forecasting, clash detection and the digital twin.

Building and infrastructure projects often go through a significant number of changes during the construction stage that may not be a part of the original design. These changes in design must be captured and integrated into the project model throughout the construction stage. Adopting an integrated BIM project delivery approach ensures that the same project model that was created during the design stage is embedded with additional information during planning, construction and operational phases.

We will critically evaluate current practice in the use of BIM through design, planning, construction and operations. Plus assess collaborative practices in a multidisciplinary team and the sharing of information using a common data environment (CDE).

This course will be delivered live by your BIM Academy instructor over our virtual learning platform.

Who should attend this course?

The BIM for Operations course is designed for project and operations leads working on specific BIM projects. It is ideally suited for Project Managers, BIM Information Managers, engineering staff, modellers and coordinators, who manage construction operations on site.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Overview of the basic concepts and principles of ISO 19650-3 as a standard and terminology associated with it.
  2. Understanding of the Information Management process map.
  3. What key ISO 19650 asset information management processes are applied during the operational phase of an asset’s lifecycle.
  4. How asset information is delivered and reviewed through common date environment (CDE) processes.
  5. How project delivery and asset management information can be managed in parallel.
  6. The concepts of Digital Twins and why it is important.

Key Takeaways

In addition to gaining a broader understanding of BIM principles, you will gain an in-depth knowledge of BIM project workflows and methodologies, including detailed learning on key project-related documents such as the EIR and BEP.

Testimonials

We’ve helped thousands of professionals grow their skills and confidence. Hear directly from the people who’ve taken our training courses.

The course was exceptional, well run in terms of delivery of information, IT online course but seamless. Very interesting examples of temporary works failures applicable to the businesses we worked in. Break out activities / group examples worked very well and were again well managed by the trainer. Fantastic course, I will recommend to others! Best course I have attended in years!

The trainers knowledge was excellent and I liked his examples and how he could relate them to every day relatable examples that we could all understand. Coming from different industries and sectors his examples were a common ground. It was handled very well virtually and the engagement worked with his questioning and answering
