Overview
This course is designed for individuals who have previously taken the Temporary Work Coordinator course. It aims to provide in-depth knowledge on managing and controlling temporary works, as required by BS5975:2008. The course covers topics such as temporary works procedures, responsibilities of the coordinator, temporary works design, site coordination, types of falsework and formwork, and concludes with an examination. Upon completion, delegates should be competent as a Temporary Works Coordinator, contingent on possessing the necessary technical knowledge and experience.

Overview
This course is intended for people who have previously attended the Temporary Work Coordinator course. The aim of the course is to provide further details on the management and control of temporary works, as required by BS5975:2008.
Session 1 Introduction and Setting Course Objectives
Session 2 Temporary Works Case Studies
Review of temporary works failures.
Session 3 Temporary Works Procedures
The requirements for inclusion in an organisation’s health and safety policy and procedures for temporary works management. Roles and responsibilities. Appointments required and organisational interfaces.
Session 4 Responsibilities of the Temporary Works Co-ordinator
Review of the Temporary Works Co-ordinator responsibilities and the interfaces with temporary and permanent works designers, temporary works supervisors, other contractors and their supervisors, CDM co-ordinators and the client.
Session 5 Temporary Works Design
Temporary works design briefs, design, design checking, design categories and design certificates.
Session 6 Site Co-ordination and Supervision
Requirements to review erection, use and dismantling risk assessments and method statements. Development of a ‘checking plan’, and performance of checks and records. Permit to Load. Consideration of dismantling and storage of temporary works. The requirement for information to be supplied for temporary works that are not dismantled.
Session 7 Types of Falsework & Formwork
A review of falsework and formwork types and the health and safety implications.
Session 8 Examination
Multi-choice closed book examination.
Course Objectives
Upon completion of this course, delegates should be competent as a Temporary Works Co-ordinator, subject to having the necessary technical knowledge and experience of the temporary works systems employed.
