ABOUT THE COURSE
This course will start with an overview of Eurocode 0 which comprises of design requirements, limit state design principles, basic variables and load combinations. Subsequent lectures will involve; design checks for beams, local buckling, shear/bending resistance, serviceability limit state checks and examples. Also, it will involve design checks for compression and tension members, design for combined axial load and bending and examples. Finally the course will conclude with design checks for bolts and welds under different loading situations and examples.

ABOUT THE LECTURERS:
Dr Boulent Imam:
Dr Imam is Senior Lecturer at the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering at the University
of Surrey and Programme Director for the MSc Programmes in Bridge, Structural and Infrastructure
Engineering. He has extensive teaching experience on analysis and design of steel structures, including buildings and bridges, including Eurocodes. His research expertise cover bridge management, fatigue analysis, structural reliability and probabilistic analysis. Over his career, Dr Imam has extensively collaborated with UK and European infrastructure owners and managers in research projects.
