Highland Consortium Secures Microsoft Academy Status

Building on their already strong links with Microsoft, after recently winning a prestigious Microsoft Rise Initiative award, Synergie Scotland Ltd have been appointed as a Microsoft IT Academy, the first private organisation in the North of Scotland to gain this status.

The Training Division of Synergie Scotland Ltd will work in partnership with ITP Solutions, award-winning top Microsoft Gold Partner based in Inverness. ITP Solutions will deliver training and end testing which will enable those attending training courses to gain Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) certificates and Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician (MCDST) certificates.

The Microsoft IT Academy Project supports educational and training institutions in delivering IT training. The Synergie and ITP Solution consortium will work jointly with Learn Direct Scotland Scotland’s Industry for Alliance for Jobs programme to, amongst others, support the training of unemployed people in the Highland area. Training will lead to IT vendor certification that will enhance employability and life skills as well as providing opportunities to achieve further qualifications within the Scotland Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF).

Rob Murray, Business Development Director for ITP Solutions said: “We are delighted to partner and collaborate with Synergie Scotland on this project which offers, for the first time in the area, the opportunity to access locally delivered high level vendor MOS and MCDST training. We especially welcome involvement in the national Industry Alliance for Jobs programme with our first student intake actually making great progress towards achieving their eventual certification.”

Steven Nelson, Training Manager for Synergie Scotland said; “It’s great news, after several years of facilitating the delivery of high end technical training to companies in the area, that Synergie Scotland has been recognised nationally by Microsoft. We are now positioned to further offer commercial clients a wider range of value added vendor certificated training. The MOS qualification, which is based around developing and achieving high level skills with Microsoft Office, is a qualification and training experience which we feel local organisations would greatly benefit from.”
