Overview
This course is designed to introduce waste minimisation and provide an overview of how to implement a waste minimisation program. Waste minimisation provides many benefits to companies including aiding in legislative compliance, finding and saving hidden costs, and running the business more efficiently.
Pre-requisites
There are no entry qualifications required for this environmental training course.
Course content includes:
- An introduction to waste “What is waste?
- An overview to relevant waste legislation,
- An introduction to waste minimisation-fundamental concepts including the waste hierarchy and the approaches taken to achieve continual improvement,
- Techniques used to identify waste streams including waste audits and waste mapping,
- An overview of planning, implementing and maintaining a working waste minimisation program.
Outcomes
Upon completion the candidate should:
- Have an understanding of what is waste, and the types of waste,
- Be able to identify the principal pieces of waste legislation and their requirements,
- Understand and be able to describe the waste hierarchy,
- Understand the concepts behind waste mapping and be able to plan and conduct a waste audit,
- Be equipped to be able to implement and maintain a waste minimisation programme.
