Decoding Eurocode 7 training Ground investigation and testing Eurocode
- Course focuses on Eurocode 7 for ground investigation and testing.
- Delegates learn planning investigations and deriving characteristic values.
- Aims to provide knowledge of Eurocode 7 principles for ground investigation.
- Intended for geotechnical engineers, geologists, civil and structural engineers.
- Course delivered by Dr. Andrew Bond, former Chairman of CEN committee.
Overview
The Online Ground Investigation Training course focuses on understanding Eurocode 7 Part 2, the current European and British standard for ground investigation and testing. Delegates will learn how to plan investigations, report findings, and derive characteristic values for design. By the end of the course, participants will be equipped to apply these principles effectively in their work. The course covers standards for ground investigation, planning, ground characterization, and geotechnical reports. It is designed for geotechnical engineers, engineering geologists, civil engineers, and others involved in ground investigation and reporting.
Who should attend
Geotechnical engineers, engineering geologists, civil engineers, structural engineers
Course Content
Online Ground Investigation Training
Pre-requisites
Delegates should have a basic understanding of ground investigation, but no prior
knowledge of the Eurocodes is necessary.
Eurocode 7 Part 2 is the current European and British standard for ground investigation and
testing. This course explains how the code differs from traditional practice particularly with
regards to planning investigations, reporting, and deriving characteristic values for design.
Practical tutorials show delegates how to scope an investigation and obtain parameters
from it to Eurocode 7.
Aims and objectives
On completion, delegates will have a sound knowledge of the principles of Eurocode 7
Part 2 and be able to apply them when planning ground investigation and deriving
characteristic values for design.
Course outline
1. Standards for ground investigation and testing
2. EN 1997-2 Ground investigation and testing
3. Planning ground investigations
4. Ground characterization
5. Geotechnical reports
Workshops
1. 5-storey building with underground car park
2. Cone penetration test in mixed soils (characterization & statistical determination)
Intended audience
Geotechnical engineers, engineering geologists, civil engineers, structural engineers
