EN1992 Parts 1-1 & 1-2 -DESIGN OF CONCRETE STRUCTURES
COMMON RULES FOR BUILDINGS AND CIVIL ENGINEERING STRUCTURES AND STRUCTURAL FIRE DESIGN
This introductory one-day course provides an opportunity to be introduced to Eurocode 2 focusing on the key elements of the new design code.
After a brief introduction to the Eurocode system, the relevant parts of BSEN 1990 (Basis of structural design) and BSEN 1991-1-1 (Actions on structures) will be discussed. It will be followed by detailed coverage of EC2 broadly under the following themes:
• Material properties
• Analysis
• Design for ultimate limit states (bending with and without axial forces, shear, torsion and punching shear)
• Design for serviceability limit state (cracking, deflection)
• Lightweight concrete and
• Structural fire design.
The course is highly interactive with worked tutorial examples and is based on practical design problems. Delegates should bring with them their Codes and the National Annex (for BOTH Part 1.1 & Part 1-2) & a calculator: participation is actively encouraged throughout and delegate numbers are limited to approx. 16 participants to encourage this workshop approach.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
Any one who wishes to have an overview of the main provisions of EC2 will benefit by attending the course. Project engineers with responsibility for design and graduate engineers will find the course directly relevant to their day-to-day work.
