Design to Eurocode 5 – introductory workshop
BS 5268 becomes obsolete on 31st March 2010 – Can you afford not to be up to date with EC5?
The most significant change as far as timber design is concerned is the adoption of the limit state design philosophy in EC5. This new design philosophy ensures that the same basis of design is used for all materials. Once designers become familiar with the Eurocodes this will make it much easier for them to choose and combine materials.
This informative workshop is aimed at Engineers, engineering technicians or anyone interested in the design and/or checking of timber structures to EC5.
Participants of the workshop will be introduced to the concept of Eurocodes with clear illustrative examples, highlighting the differences between the BS 5268
permissible stress design approach and the EC5 limit state design philosophy. Design of timber elements is also discussed in depth throughout the workshop.
