Course Content
CDM & Building Safety Act Training Course
CDM Awareness – Day 1
This course gives an overview (introduction) to the requirements for Clients, Principal Designers, Principal Contractors, Contractors, Designers and Workers, and how the regulations apply to construction projects in general under the Primary Legislation (The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974).
A PDCDM must have an awareness of all duties under the regulations in order to plan, manage, monitor and coordinate H&S in the Pre-Construction Phase of a Project. This enables them to have a holistic approach to discharging their specific duties.
This one day course does exactly that. Whilst there is not time, in one day, to look at all the detail, there is time to provide guidance on where else to look depending on your own level of SKE&B and where further reading or CPD might benefit you as a dutyholder. The course does focus on the CDMPD dutyholder role as a central requirement to a more complete understanding of the overall approach to application of CDM2015.
Day 2 – BSA & Building Regulations (England) Dutyholder Introduction
This course relating the Building Safety Act 2022 (BSA) provides an introduction and overview to the primary legislation including the BSA and Building Act 1984 (BA) in general and the secondary legislation, predominantly, the Building Regulations (BRegs), more specifically.
It is designed to provide an introductory guide to all dutyholders under BRegs and their duties relating to Building Regulations Control of “Buildings” and “Building Work”.
It includes an introduction to the Regulators and their functions, BRegs application procedures, notices relating to commencement of “Building Works” and certification/completion of “Building Works” and handover requirements to “responsible persons” and/or “accountable persons”.
It covers, briefly, both High Risk Buildings and Non-Hight Risk Buildings in order to provide attendees with a general awareness for regulatory compliance.
Purpose and Reason Why
This APS Accredited CDM and BSA Combination Course prepares professionals to take on Principal Designer duties confidently and legally under both CDM 2015 and the Building Safety Act. As the regulatory landscape evolves, it is vital to understand how these frameworks interact. The course gives you the tools to align with legal duties, reduce risks, and maintain high safety standards throughout the design and build process.
