Overview
Copilot said: This introductory Wind Energy course provides a practical overview of how wind turbines and wind farms generate electricity, covering the fundamentals of energy, renewable generation, turbine aerodynamics, and key mechanical and electrical systems. Through a combination of theory, practical activities and a virtual offshore turbine tour, participants will gain an understanding of the wind energy sector, turbine lifecycle, and the training, certification and competence requirements for working in both onshore and offshore environments.
Who should attend
Copilot said: This course is ideal for individuals seeking a broad introduction to the wind energy sector, graduates, trainees and engineers looking to develop a career in wind energy, professionals transitioning from industries such as oil and gas into offshore wind, and engineers, supervisors and managers involved in turbine operations, maintenance and project support services.
Course Content
This course provides a clear introduction to how wind turbines and wind farms function, from the fundamentals of energy through to the full lifecycle of a modern turbine.
Using a blend of classroom-based theory, guided practical activities and a virtual walk-through of an offshore turbine, participants will explore the principles of energy and renewable generation, aerodynamics, mechanical and electrical systems, and how these come together to generate power and energy yield.
The course also outlines the requirements of training, certification, competence standards across both onshore and offshore environments.
This course contributes 7 CPD hours.
