Decoding Eurocode 7 training Design of shallow foundations
- Course focuses on practical design of shallow foundations to Eurocode 7.
- Delegates gain detailed knowledge for practical design situations.
- Topics include slopes, spread foundations, gravity walls, and ground improvement.
- Workshops cover road cutting, strip footing, and gravity wall design.
- Intended for geotechnical engineers, civil engineers, and regulators.
Overview
The Online Design of Shallow Foundations Training course focuses on providing delegates with a detailed understanding of designing shallow foundations according to Eurocode 7. The course emphasizes practical design aspects such as footings, gravity walls, and slopes. By the end of the course, participants will be equipped to apply Eurocode 7 principles to real-world design scenarios. The course includes workshops on topics like road cutting, strip footing, and gravity walls, making it suitable for geotechnical engineers, civil engineers, and other professionals involved in shallow foundation design.
Who should attend
Geotechnical engineers, engineering geologists, civil engineers, structural engineers.
Course Content
Eurocode 7 is the current European and British standard for geotechnical design. This
course takes a detailed look at those clauses that deal with shallow foundations,
including footings, gravity walls, and slopes. The course concentrates on practical
aspects of design, which delegates will need to understand in order to implement the
code. Practical tutorials show how to design shallow foundations to Eurocode 7.
Delegates should have a basic understanding of geotechnical design, and have attended
our Decoding Eurocode 7 -Basis of geotechnical design (or similar) course.
Aims and objectives
On completion of this course, delegates will have a detailed knowledge of the design of
shallow foundations to Eurocode 7 and be able to apply them to practical design
situations.
Workshops
1. Road cutting using design charts
2. Strip footing on clay
3. T-shaped gravity wall with dry fill
Course duration and delivery
The course is delivered publically in the classroom over one full day.
The course is also made available from time to time via online delivery over 3-4 weeks
(each lecture lasting approximately 1.5 hours).
The course can also be delivered in house, by prior arrangement.
The course counts as 6 hours CPD.
