The Code for Sustainable Homes has been developed to enable a step-change in sustainable building practice for new homes.
It is a single national standard to guide industry in the design and construction of sustainable homes, and as a means of driving continuous improvement, greater innovation and exemplary achievement in sustainable home building. It will enable designers and contractors to produce sustainable developments that comply with current and future requirements of the Building Regulations.
It is mandatory for affordable housing schemes and will be extended for all housing in due course. It embodies sustainable development best practices and is intended for a wider construction application in the future.
This one day course will encourage you to consider your projects differently, whether or not they currently fall under Code for Sustainable Homes requirements. It will equip you with the tools and understanding to revise your current approach to design and construction in order to meet Code standards, both now and in the future.
During the course you will consider the key aspects of the Code including
Appreciating the background to and drivers for its development
Understanding its impacts and benefits
Understanding its requirements and how to meet them
Understanding cost implications of design decisions
The course is highly interactive, utilising case studies and practical sessions throughout the day to deliver against its objectives. The training is focussed and immediately deployable, delivering practical, useable and effective advice for you, your projects and your clients.
As part of the extended learning of this module a CD will be included containing a wealth of practical information, guidance and best practice documentation, design and assessment templates, key references, further reading and sources of additional information.
