CDM2007 Designer Training
Construction (Design & Management) Regulations 2007
CDM Designer Training – This workshop is suitable for designers who have previously had training in the CDM regulations and require refresher or update training in current best practice. The workshops can utilise the design organisation’s own methods of recording for in-house workshops.
Session 1 Introduction and Setting Course Objectives
Session 2 Designers duties under the CDM Regulations
Detailed understanding of the requirements of regulations 11, 12 and 18 of the CDM2007 regulations, including ensuring the client is aware of the client’s duties, appointment of the CDM Co-ordinator and co-operation and co-ordination with others Workshop: Prepare a briefing for the client on the client’s duties and present to the course
Session 3 Reducing Risks by Design
Design risk reduction techniques and hazards to be addressed
Workshop: Produce a Design Risk Register/Hazard Inventory for the presented project and justify the decisions to the course
Session 4 Designer Guidance
Guidance available to the designers
Produce a Design Risk Register/Hazard Inventory for the presented project and justify the decisions to the course
Session 5 Role of the Designer during the Construction Phase
Designers’ duties after commencement of construction
Workshop: Consider the designers’ actions for a change required due an unforeseen circumstance during construction
Discussion: The designers’ contributions to the health and safety file
Session 6 Examination
Closed book examination
Session 7 Course Review and Conclusion
Objectives:
On completion of the course, delegates should:
- understand the designers’ duties under the CDM regulations 2007;
- know how to effectively reduce risk by design; and
- be familiar and confident in the supply of information and production of evidence.
