CDM2007 Client Training
This course is designed to provide personnel who are tasked by their organisation to perform the Client’s duties with a sound understanding of the Client’s responsibilities & duties under the CDM regulations 2007.
Day One
Session 1 Introduction and Setting Course Objectives
Session 2 Legislation
History, application and definitions of the Construction (Design & Management) Regulations 2007.
Session 3 The Duties of the Client, Designers, CDM co-ordinator, Principal Contractor and Contractors
A summary of the duties of each duty holder and the interfaces between them from concept to maintenance.
Session 4 Making Competent and Resourced Appointments/Engagements
Evaluating competence of the CDM co-ordinator, designers, the principal contractor and contractors. Methods of pre-qualification. Confirmation of competence and resources prior to contract award. Reviewing the information supplied. Recording and communicating the information.

Day Two
Session 1 Ensuring time and Management Arrangements
Setting reasonable timeframes for design, procurement and construction. The assurance of effective management arrangements within design and construction phases of the work.

Session 2 Provision of Information
The requirements for the Pre-construction Information for notifiable and non-notifiable work, including content, timing and arrangements for identifying, obtaining and disseminating the information.

Session 3 The Commencement of Construction
The development of the construction phase plan, establishment of welfare facilities and the control of construction commencement.

Session 4 Preparation of the Health and Safety File
Concept and content of the health and safety file. The design of the health and safety file. Who needs access to the information? When is access required? Electronic or hard copy? Managing the information. Updating the file.

Closed book, multi-choice examination.
Session 6 Course Review and Conclusion
Course Objectives
Upon completion of the course, delegates should:
- understand the need and application of the CDM regulations;
- understand the duties and responsibilities of all of the ‘Duty Holders’;
- know the obligations placed on Clients by the CDM Regulations 2007;
- correctly evaluate competence and select suitable ‘Duty holders’;
- appreciate the information management requirements;
- be able to ensure effective health and safety management of the project; and
- understand the requirements for the Health & Safety File
