Course Objectives

The course is designed to make delegates aware of the management processes the design managers should be completing to prepare design for construction projects.


a) The Traditional Approach - The course reviews the way design should be developed from initial concept to completion of construction.  The key milestones are identified and traditional ways of managing the process reviewed.


b) Design & Building Contracts - The course reviews good practice in the management of the design construction interface by Design and Build Contractors (management/ co-ordination and scheduling). 


c) Latest Innovations - The course reviews the recent concept of Integrated Collaborative Design and associated tools (Plan Weaver).

11.10 – 12.30 am ADePT Methodology and PlanWeaver Software

This system uses iterative decision nodes to supplement tradition design management, and analyses the information to prioritise the design decisions so the procurement and construction schedules can be better integrated with ongoing design development.
