BIM is a major driver for delivering efficiency in the construction and infrastructure industry. As a centre for excellence, BIM Academy is supporting the government BIM Strategy for 2016 to deliver value through reduced cost, improved programme certainty, reduced carbon emissions and safer environments.

In partnership with Synergie Training, BIM Academy has developed an innovative and collaborative Virtual Project CPD to allow industry experts to experience BIM through workshops, demonstrations and hands on opportunities experience the benefits of using BIM processes and tools for design, construction and operation.

This intensive course is designed to allow a project team or company to experience BIM in a real time collaborative environment. It enables participants to explore the BIM process with none of the risk or costs which can arise on a real project.

The three day course will be delivered by our multidisciplinary team of experience and skilled practitioners. Courses will be held in Inverness and Glasgow, with the three instructors delivering the course to 10-12 delegates. Price per delegate is £995 + VAT.

Virtual Project is very practical and involves presentations, demonstrations, workshops and software tools training. The course begins teaching the basics of strategic BIM implementation, explaining the UK government strategy and mandate for Level 2 BIM on all public projects by 2016. Tutors then demonstrate how to plan a BIM-mandated project, starting with an employer’s information requirements, then developing a BIM execution plan and detailing how deliverables will be achieved.

It allows delegates from different backgrounds and skill levels to experience BIM tools and processes in a supervised collaborative environment based on a real project. The course subject is based on one of our template projects.

Experienced BIM Academy staff will be on hand throughout to manage the BIM implementation and provide advice and support.

BIM Academy is a joint collaboration between Northumbria University and Ryder Architecture founded in 2010. We combine practical industry experience and academic knowledge in a centre of excellence for Building Information Modelling (BIM) to support industry in BIM adoption.
