To enable all staff to improve their writing skills to be able to produce effective technical documents & reports at the right level for their audiences.

what do you want to achieve? Who are you writing to? What’s the most effective method of communicating for this purpose?
Your Audience
who are you writing to? What do they need? What do they expect? What level of knowledge do they have?
Building your message
Gather, assemble and organise data, introduction, body and conclusion, logical flow of text
Language Skills
Using appropriate language, correct grammar and avoid errors of spelling and punctuation, words, sentences & paragraphs
Message length
Write concisely, avoiding colloquialisms, jargon, redundant words/phrases
Visual appeal
use of diagrams, charts, pictures and others visuals, what to use, where & when?
Editing
Constructively criticise your draft documents and improve them where necessary
Course Format
This workshop is interactive with short inputs of theory, before applying this to real work examples & practices, using group discussion, individual and group exercises. Examples of the types of technical documents & reports that you need to write will be used within the course.
