(New) Reinforced Concrete Detailing of Building Structures

Course Duration: 2 Days

Cost: £575 + VAT

Structural detailing and scheduling is the link between design and construction. It is the responsibility of the designer to specify design requirements and the responsibility of the detailer to produce and communicate the details in a clear and consistent way to the construction site or fabrication facility.
Good detailing has far reaching effects and can have a significant influence on the technical correctness, safety, buildability and cost of structural design.

This two-day course delivers the essential knowledge to enable clear and unambiguous detailing and scheduling to be produced for building structures.

Aimed at the structural CAD technician the course will deliver the knowledge necessary to produce robust and rigorous detailing and scheduling of structural concrete for building structures. Using a significant tutorial based element throughout, delegates will be expected to assimilate typical Engineers information and produce robust details and schedules for the common structural elements such as columns, beams and slabs.

The course will also benefit the graduate engineer, ensuring they understand the details that have been produced for their designs and appreciating the information required to allow the detailer to produce robust details and schedules on structural projects.

Incorporating the latest advice from the IStructE / Concrete Society / Dti 3rd edition of “Standard Method of Detailing Structural Concrete”, and Eurocode 2: Design of Concrete Structures and complaint with current UK practice this course is a comprehensive introduction to Reinforced Concrete Detailing of Building Structures.

The tutors comprise:

A chartered Civil Engineer who has had a deep involvement with the development of UK and European codes for the use of structural concrete. He has wide ranging industry design and analysis experience, has published widely on both design and detailing and is a well known and widely respected industry consultant.

A practising structural detailer with more than 20 years experience at all levels of detailing structural concrete. He has extensive knowledge of what is required for robust detailing and how to achieve it. He has worked for contractors and consultants and is currently a director of a detailing agency. He has also developed and delivered training in reinforced concrete detailing for leading construction industry clients.

Objectives

At the end of this course the delegates should:
Recognise the importance of producing clear, consistent and rigorous structural detailing.
Understand the principles and practice of reinforcement detailing and scheduling.
Appreciate the design decisions that underpin structural detailing.
Comply with the requirements of the relevant codes of practice and guidance in terms of cover, bar spacing, lapping, curtailment and end anchorage
Identify reinforcement requirements from calculations and produce reinforcement details for footings, columns, beams, slabs and additional ancillary structural elements.
Appreciate the availability and use of proprietary detailing systems
