(New) JCT2005 - In Practice

Course Duration: 2 Days

Cost: £475 + VAT

The JCT 2005 contract forms are the most widely used in the construction industry and their release represented a complete update and re-design, with considerable changes in structure, contents, names and scope. In addition new contract forms have been introduced. Now in widespread use, several key questions need addressing:

How do they work in practice?
What are the essential contract particulars I need to be aware of?
How do I gain valuable experience of the contract in operation?
Where can I get best practice advice on use?

This comprehensive two day course critically explores how the contract operates in practice, delivering essential advice, opinion and insight into effective practical application of JCT 2005.

Designed for the practitioner - designer, contractor and client - the course is delivered against a core case study which enables you to experience the detailed application of the contract in a realistic environment.

Day one explores the overall framework of the contract and the application of the key elements such as contract structure and documents, party’s obligations, valuation, and payment and insurance.

Day two targets the key contract elements that contribute most to effective and efficient administration and project delivery - powers of the parties, instructions, variations, delay (loss and expense) and defects.

Throughout the course a reference case study will be used to illustrate key points, draw out the essential discussion and reinforce the learning. The course will concentrate on the JCT Design and Build together with JCT Standard Building Contract as they reflect the most popular procurement methods for construction
