A consideration of the Legal obligations upon the Contractor who take on the design of work; the levels of design responsibility; appointing consultants; the problems of novation.
10.45-11.0 Tea & Coffee break
11.00-11.45 Employer’s Requirements
What they are; their purpose; clauses Employers amend in the standard forms; danger signs; collateral warranties.
11.45-12.30 Contractor’s Proposals and the Contract Sum Analysis
What they are and their purpose.

Aim
A course designed to give selected delegates at a basic, intermediate or advanced level and understanding of the JCT 98 With Contractor’s Design Standard Form of Contract.
Objectives
To enable delegate to:-
• Be familiar with the documents forming the contract and their standing.
• Understand the role and importance of the Employer’s Requirements and Contractor’s proposals.
• Be aware of the other documentation available and relevant to the contract.
• Appreciate the roles and responsibilities of the parties.
• Appreciate the risks involved for the parties to the contract.
• Understand the implications for a Contractor accepting a design as well as a construction role.
• Know the notices to be served by the various parties to the contract.
