Objectives
This one day introductory training course provides a great opportunity to learn about the main renewable energy systems (RES) and introduces how to assess the feasibility of different RES at specific sites.

Course Content
This course provides an introduction to the main renewable energy technologies and their application, financial incentives, government and planning policy.
● Introduction to the main renewable energy technologies including:-
  Solar Water Heating and solar photovoltaics
  Wood Fuel Heating
  Ground and Air Source Heat Pumps
  Small scale hydro-electricity
  Small to Medium Scale Wind
● Site based factors that influence RES choice
● Planning
● Financial incentives available for RES
● Current Government thinking on RES

The course includes interactive sessions in which delegates will discuss the most appropriate renewable energy technology for a number of different scenarios.

Outcomes
At the end of the course delegates will be able to:
● Understand the basics of energy
● Distinguish between the main types of renewable energy technology
● Identify what each technology can do
● Be aware of Government commitments and targets on greenhouse gases and renewable energy production
● Start the process of identifying which are the most appropriate technologies for any given situation

It is open to anyone wishing to gain a further insight and in renewable energy systems.
